Ask three people what MBBS in Malaysia costs and you'll hear three very different numbers. Some quote one year's tuition. Some quote the fee for Malaysian citizens. Some leave out living costs entirely, and on a five-year medical degree those gaps add up to crores of taka.
This page sets out MBBS in Malaysia fees for Bangladeshi students in 2026, using each university's own published fees for international students, converted to taka. You'll also see the full five-year bill, how it compares with a private medical college at home, and the rules that affect your budget after graduation.
If you're still deciding whether Malaysia is right for you, start with our MBBS in Malaysia guide for Bangladeshi students, then come back here to plan the money.
All figures are the universities' own published fees as of October 2026, converted at about BDT 30.1 per ringgit and BDT 123 per US dollar. We've added Malaysia's 6% service tax for international students wherever a university's published fee leaves it out. Fees change every year, so always confirm the figure on your offer letter.

Sources: each university's official fee or programme page, checked October 2026. BDT at about 30.1 per RM and 123 per USD (mid-market); banks charge more. Since 1 July 2025, a 6% service tax applies to non-Malaysian students' fees at private universities. IMU, Taylor's and Manipal state their fees exclude it, Monash adds it on top, and NUMed includes it. *Cyberjaya and UCSI don't say, so we've added it to be safe: ask them to confirm.
Lower-cost private schools such as AIMST, MAHSA, SEGi and MSU are listed at roughly RM295,000–395,000 for Malaysian students over five years, but international fees are quoted on request. Expect the international figure, plus 6% SST, to be higher: RUMC's March 2026 comparison lists AIMST's international MBBS at RM394,750 before SST (about BDT 1.19 crore).
Why MBBS fees in Malaysia vary so much
Three things drive most of the difference. The first is the degree you graduate with: branch campuses such as Monash and NUMed award degrees from their parent universities in Australia and the UK, and they price accordingly. The second is currency: Taylor's and Manipal charge in US dollars, so their cost in taka moves with the dollar. The third is what each figure includes. Cyberjaya's total already contains registration, admin and EMGS charges, NUMed's includes the 6% SST while IMU, Taylor's and Manipal add it on top, and Universiti Malaya's excludes accommodation.
So before you compare two numbers, ask what each one covers and whether it can rise during your course.
The gap between local and international fees is real. At Monash University Malaysia, Malaysian students pay RM117,600 a year for medicine in 2026, while international students pay RM138,720, plus 6% SST. That's why figures copied from Malaysian websites often look cheaper than what a Bangladeshi student will actually pay.

These are the three medical schools on our MBBS in Malaysia hub, and they sit at very different price points.
- Monash University Malaysia: RM693,600 at the 2026 rate for the five-year Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine, or about RM735,216 with 6% SST (about BDT 2.21 crore). You graduate with a Monash University degree, and it carries the highest fee of the three.
- UCSI University: about RM539,043 for the five-year Doctor of Medicine, or roughly RM571,386 if 6% SST is added (about BDT 1.72 crore), with a September intake. UCSI also runs a one-year Foundation in Science (Medical Sciences) for students who need it.
- Universiti Malaya: RM673,200 for the MBBS on its 2025/2026 schedule (about BDT 2.03 crore), with accommodation charged separately. It's a public university in Kuala Lumpur, and its schedule lists no SST.
Whichever you're considering, compare them on the full five-year cost in the next section, not on tuition alone.
The Real Cost of MBBS in Malaysia: Your Full Five-Year Budget
Tuition is the biggest number, but it isn't the whole bill. Many universities also bill you per semester rather than once a year. IMU, for example, charges RM69,268 a semester before SST, so you'll be sending money from Bangladesh about twice a year for five years. Here's what else Bangladeshi medical students pay.
- A foundation year, if you need one. UCSI's Foundation in Science (Medical Sciences) costs about RM52,726 for international students, or about RM55,890 with 6% SST (≈ BDT 16.8 lakh).
- EMGS visa and Student Pass. Roughly RM2,726–3,228 in your first year, then a renewal every year. Our Malaysia student visa guide breaks this down line by line.
- Living costs. About RM1,500–2,500 a month in Kuala Lumpur including rent, and RM1,200–2,000 in Penang or Johor Bahru.
- Accommodation. Campus housing varies: AIMST lists RM7,920 a year, while Manipal lists USD 1,680 a year.
- One-time university charges. At Cyberjaya, RM11,500 in registration, processing and admin fees is included in the total, but most of it is due before you arrive.
- Flights, books and medical kit. Small on their own, so keep a buffer for them.
- Exchange-rate movement. A 5% move in the taka on a BDT 1.5 crore bill is BDT 7.5 lakh.
Three realistic five-year budgets
University of Cyberjaya
- Tuition incl. SST: ≈ RM460,358
- Living at RM1,500 a month: RM90,000
- Visa, renewals and insurance: ≈ RM7,000
≈ BDT 1.68 crore
UCSI University
- Tuition incl. SST: ≈ RM571,386
- Living at RM2,000 a month: RM120,000
- Visa, renewals and insurance: ≈ RM7,000
≈ BDT 2.10 crore
Monash University Malaysia
- Tuition incl. SST: ≈ RM735,216
- Living at RM2,500 a month: RM150,000
- Visa, renewals and insurance: ≈ RM7,000
≈ BDT 2.69 crore
Our estimates. They exclude a foundation year, flights and future fee increases. The visa and insurance figure is an approximate five-year total; Cyberjaya's fee already covers first-year EMGS charges, so its budget is slightly overstated.
MBBS in Malaysia vs a Private Medical College in Bangladesh
Most families weigh Malaysia against a private medical college seat at home, so here's the plain comparison.
| What you pay or get | Private medical college, Bangladesh | MBBS in Malaysia |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed fees | Tk 19.44 lakh admission + Tk 10,000 a month + Tk 1.80 lakh internship ≈ Tk 27 lakh | BDT 1.39–2.21 crore tuition (incl. 6% SST) |
| Living costs | Often at or near home | RM1,500–2,500 a month |
| Internship | In Bangladesh | Not in Malaysia for international graduates |
| Registration to practise | BMDC registration after graduation | Check BMDC recognition; sit BMDC's Registration Qualifying Examination |
| University brand | Bangladeshi MBBS | Malaysian or international brands |
Bangladesh figures are the government-set private medical college fees for the 2024-25 session, the latest we found (Dhaka Tribune, November 2024). The five-year total is our calculation.
So no, MBBS in Malaysia is not a cheaper alternative to a private seat at home. Tuition alone is roughly five to eight times the fixed fees. It makes sense when you didn't secure a seat in Bangladesh, when you want a university brand recognised beyond South Asia, or when your family has planned for a BDT 1.7–2.7 crore budget.
MBBS in Malaysia Entry Requirements That Change Your Cost
Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education revised the minimum entry rules for medicine from 29 October 2024. They matter for your budget because they decide whether you need a foundation year first.
- A-Level: BBB, ABC or AAC in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics.
- Foundation in science: CGPA 3.0 with at least a C in each subject, studied for at least one year at the same institution.
- IB: 33 points, with Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at Higher Level (minimum 5 each).
- Age: at least 18 when the programme starts.
- English: IMU, UCSI and Taylor's all list IELTS 6.0.
- No SPM or O-Level? International students can submit a credential evaluation report confirming A-Level equivalency.
What this means if you have HSC
Malaysian medical schools set their requirements in A-Level or foundation terms, and each university decides how it assesses Bangladeshi HSC results. Many HSC students start with a one-year Foundation in Science, which adds a year and around RM56,000 including SST at a university like UCSI. Get your HSC assessed before you set your budget.
Recognition, Housemanship and What Happens After Graduation
This is the part of the budget most families find out about too late. International graduates currently cannot do housemanship in Malaysia. Monash University Malaysia says so plainly on its housemanship and registration page. After five years, you return to Bangladesh (or move to another country) for internship and registration.
Back home, your path runs through the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. BMDC holds a Registration Qualifying Examination for MBBS and BDS, with sittings announced for April and October 2026 on the BMDC website. Before you pay any fees, check that your chosen university is on BMDC's current recognised list. Our guide on checking BMDC recognition explains how to ask for it in writing.
Budget for the months after graduation too: exam preparation, the BMDC exam itself and your internship year in Bangladesh.
How to Lower the Cost of MBBS in Malaysia
- Compare five-year totals, not yearly fees. A low first-year figure can hide one-time charges, the 6% SST and annual increases.
- Prefer fee-locked programmes. NUMed keeps your first-year tuition fee the same for every year of your course. Taylor's says all its fees are subject to annual increases.
- Mind the currency. Fees set in US dollars, such as Taylor's and Manipal, rise in taka whenever the dollar strengthens.
- Do your foundation where you'll study medicine. The foundation route needs a year at the same institution, so switching later can cost you a year.
- Choose your city carefully. Housing in Penang or Johor Bahru can be RM300–600 a month cheaper than in Kuala Lumpur.
- Ask about scholarships early. Ask each university about merit awards or fee discounts for medicine, and see the scholarships Bangladeshi students actually get in Malaysia.
- Get the payment schedule in writing. Some universities, such as Cyberjaya, require registration, admin and first-semester fees before you arrive.

Key Takeaways: MBBS in Malaysia Fees for Bangladeshi Students
MBBS in Malaysia fees for Bangladeshi students are high, but they're predictable once you look at the right numbers. Keep these three in mind:
- Use international, five-year figures. Verified tuition, including the 6% SST, runs from about BDT 1.39 crore (Cyberjaya) to BDT 2.21 crore (Monash and IMU).
- Add living costs and visas. A realistic all-in budget is roughly BDT 1.7–2.7 crore, before any foundation year.
- Plan for after graduation. International graduates can't do housemanship in Malaysia, so check BMDC recognition before you pay.
If those numbers fit your family's plans, Malaysia offers well-known medical schools, including branch campuses of Australian and UK universities, about four hours from Dhaka by air. Talk to a uniThink counsellor before you commit to any one university.
MBBS in Malaysia Fees: FAQs
How much does MBBS in Malaysia cost for Bangladeshi students in 2026?
Based on universities' own published international fees plus Malaysia's 6% service tax, five-year MBBS tuition ranges from about RM460,000 (University of Cyberjaya) to about RM735,000 (Monash and IMU), roughly BDT 1.39–2.21 crore. With living costs of RM1,500–2,500 a month plus visa and insurance, a realistic total is around BDT 1.7–2.7 crore, before any foundation year. Confirm the figure on your offer letter.
Which is the cheapest MBBS university in Malaysia for international students?
Among universities that publish international fees, the University of Cyberjaya had the lowest five-year total we found in October 2026: RM434,300 including registration and admin charges, or about RM460,000 (BDT 1.39 crore) with 6% SST added. Schools such as AIMST, MAHSA, SEGi and MSU publish lower fees for Malaysian students but quote international fees on request, so ask for a written figure before you compare.
Can international students do housemanship in Malaysia after MBBS?
Currently, no. Monash University Malaysia states that international students are not able to do housemanship in Malaysia. Bangladeshi graduates usually return home for internship and registration, which runs through BMDC and its Registration Qualifying Examination. Check that your university is on BMDC's current recognised list before you enrol, and budget for that internship year at home.
What are the entry requirements for MBBS in Malaysia?
Under Ministry of Higher Education rules revised in October 2024, you need A-Level grades of BBB, ABC or AAC in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics, or a science foundation with CGPA 3.0. IB students need 33 points. You must be at least 18 when the programme starts, and universities such as IMU, UCSI and Taylor's ask for IELTS 6.0. Each university decides how it assesses HSC results.
Is MBBS in Malaysia cheaper than a private medical college in Bangladesh?
No. Government-set fees at Bangladeshi private medical colleges for the 2024-25 session were Tk 19.44 lakh for admission, Tk 10,000 a month and Tk 1.80 lakh for internship, about Tk 27 lakh over five years. MBBS tuition in Malaysia is roughly five to eight times that, before living costs. Families usually choose Malaysia for the university brand or because a local seat isn't available.
Do MBBS fees in Malaysia increase every year?
It depends on the university. NUMed states that the tuition fee you pay in your first year stays the same for each year of your course. Taylor's says its fees are reviewed annually. Since 1 July 2025, a 6% service tax also applies to international students' fees at private universities, and fees charged in US dollars change in taka with the exchange rate. Ask each university how your fee is fixed before you accept an offer.
Are scholarships available for MBBS in Malaysia?
Some universities offer merit scholarships or fee discounts, but the terms are often different for medicine and for international students. Ask each university what applies to its MBBS programme specifically, get any offer in writing, and check whether you must keep a minimum grade to renew it. A counsellor can help you compare offers against the full five-year cost.
Can I work part-time in Malaysia to pay MBBS fees?
Not in any way that covers medical fees. EMGS allows international students to work up to 20 hours a week only during semester breaks or holidays longer than seven days, in approved sectors and with prior Immigration Department approval. Medical timetables are demanding, so plan to fund all five years without relying on a job.
